Description

Ella says, “It is fascinating to me to explore the homes of artists and imagine their lives there. How do they bring their artistic sensibility to their surroundings? What do they choose to surround themselves with? This is the kitchen at La Casa Azul in Mexico City, home to Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera (see their names spelled out in ceramics on the wall?). I love the bold use of colour and the celebration of the craft and skill that went into the creation of the ceramics and furniture. It is both a beautiful and practical space, a place for creativity and the nurturing of loved ones. What conversations must have taken place around that table!””

The original artwork was created using a inks and watercolour.

Acknowledgement of Country

I would like to acknowledge the Cammeraygal people, the traditional owners of the land and waterways where I live, work and play. I pay my respects to Elders, past, present and emerging and extend that respect to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples visiting this website.  I would like to thank the Cammeraygal people for their care of this country.

On Cammeraygal country, I am inspired by flannel flowers growing on steep, rocky slopes, by gum blossoms blooming on suburban streets, and by golden wattle, both wild and cultivated.
